I had this same problem with the first phone which I returned for this issue. This is a demonstration of when I touch the screen, the screen becomes unresponsive after touching the screen in a different spot at the same time. Do other people have this problem? I think its a kernel issue. The modded (cooked, flashable) kernels don't have this problem, only the stock HTC one does.

This phone is currently running the ViperROM RC1.3, but it does this across all ROMs that run the regular stock kernel, even the original stock ROM unrooted when I first discovered this issue.

  • @wcmarchese Thanks! I had exactly this issue. After searching around for a little while I came across your comment and it fixed my FPS gaming issues right off the bat! Kudos!

  • By the way, working with the original unrooted 2.3.4 from Sprint.

But try it if you are using something else.

So you can either take off the screen lock app, or do like I said and when you need it to be unlocked again just hit the unlock button. But when you want to play a game, or need the multi touch, you need to put it into lock mode again and turn screen off and on.

Let me know if this works guys.

The fix is I put the phone into lock mode, then shut the screen off, then turn it on. You will have to slide to unlock (or put a passcode in, depending on how you lock your device) and the multitouch problem is gone. I have been testing this for the past week or so, and it has been working.

  • Ok. So I have had the same problem and here is the fix.

If you have a screen lock program, it has to be disabled to use the multi-touch. I use one called Screen Mode Widget and it has three buttons. First is lock, which is normal mode where you need to slide to unlock, next is unlock, which you can use the volume buttons to open the phone, as well as the power button, and last is screen stay.

It seems that anything that isn’t lock will cause this problem.

  • yea I have the same problem also but I got it fix one time then it got mess up again is their a solution to this

  • You sure it's not because you have something like go locker installed? Cos I got go locker and it messes up the touchscreen. Once I remove it the issue is gone.

  • I just got n64oid and its the first time I have noticed this problem so then I went and tried out my piano apps and now they don't work correctly either. It is definitely a software issue. As in...other software issue. Because just a couple weeks ago I was using music app and I could press 2 and 3 keys at once. Now I barely get 2 keys at once.

  • hmm. i dont get this issue on my evo3d gsm (UK).

it should be a software issue
