@bsimp07 I look at it all the time... Could be due to the fact that I live past the 45 degree mark... you know, in Canada.

@rhiny1234 . While not as dangerous as looking at an eclipse, you should never look directly at the sun. Check this website out on how to watch the transit: transitofvenus com. The best option is projection.

Yes - Venus is 1/30th the diameter and 1/900th the area of the sun so it looks quite small - not like a solar eclips when the moon has almost exactly the same apparent diameter as the sun.

I will try to get part 2 on 6.6.12 but it is not so well placed from the UK - only the end is visible at sunrise. It was filmed with a standard video camera and a solar filiter- you need good protection to see it naked eye. Projecting it onto a screen with binoculars should work fine.
