Natalie Dessay's incredible performance of Mozart's concert aria ''No, che non sei capace'' (K.419), the third aria from her CD, "Mozart Concert Arias": http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002IT7LJO?ie=UTF8&tag=vogltemp-20&l...

  • Notes are perfect, but its boring. Clorinda in this aria is angry! Diana Damrau captures that essence much more than Dessay.

  • @HeidelbergSoprano True, I think early in Dessay's career she was afraid of being herself. She sings Mozart amazingly, but she completely left the repertoire behind since she likes roles where she be a true stage animal! Like Lucia, Marie, Violetta, etc.

  • @HeidelbergSoprano Damrau is fascinating in this repertoire because she has the technical facility + the drama!

  • Natalie does it well---- her pitch is spot on and she keeps the vibrato tight and doesnt "Warble"all over the place like so many opera singers do. Great performance.

  • @mrbrianmccarthy Those were the "glory-days" of her voice...she still does phenomenal things with her voice now expressively, but in her youth she had it all - spot-on perfection note-wise and dramatic flair!

  • I very love the concert arias of Mozart by Natalie Dessay. She sings these difficult arias perfectly. And thank you for the notes. :-)

  • perfection, but the trills could be better :P

  • @FabioCostaMusic Since it's a recording, she easily could have re-sung it if it wasn't on pitch...and she frequently embellishes da capo sections, etc. in these Mozart concert arias and everything else so a change in articulation isn't so unheard for her...she even adds ornaments in the repeated sections of "Se tutti i mali miei" for example...and the accompaniment is supposed to be shifting at that point...deal with her perfection lol!

  • @SsteinwayS Listen well.... the accompaniment below shifts and denounces it, it's quite clear. And at the repeat she does the same passage with legato, and well, so there is no correction... rsrsr I bet with you on this one!! rsrrs

  • @FabioCostaMusic Nope...if you listen to Lakmé, Queen of the Night...it's the same perfect, crystalline sound...besides, this recording is from the 90's! Not sure their technology was that advanced yet lol!

  • at 3:40 computer correction of intonation.....

  • @velociraptor44 Totally agree!! Even velociraptors love Mozart! :P
