This recording was made in 1926 by The New Orleans Bootblacks (other times calling themselves "The New Orleans Wanderers") in Chicago Ill.
The line-up was :-
Lil Harding/Armstrong (Louis's second wife) pno. George Mitchell;cnt. Johnny Dodds; clt. Kid Ory; tbn. Baby Dodds; dms. and Johnny St. Cyr; bjo.
(Shows it's age, doesn't it!)

  • Wonderful sound. I agree with "poutitechatte". George Mitchell was a fine cornet player and is still one of my favourites today.What more can you say about Dodds - the master of classic jazz, as was George Lewis for early New Orleans music.

  • The purest New Orleans style, with my preferred cornettist and Stomp Evans on alto saxophone who died two years later. More over, Johnny Dodds at the top of its art.
