@chillaxer1993 The pressure suits were not used between STS-5 and STS-51L as there were no ejection seats, and therefore no need for pressure suits. After STS-51L, in which all six crew members were killed, a partial pressure suit (the LES) was introduced (similar to the ejection suits used from STS-1 to STS-4). By 1998, they were using this full pressure ACES suit.
I'm PRETTY sure I was there, my dad was big into Shuttle launches back then, I was about 7......we lived in Miami then, that was about the ONLY time we got along as a family unit.....
I stand corrected. I thought it was Challenger. But, in looking on NASA's site, it does state Columbia as STS-4 and Challenger's first mission as STS-6.

They didn't use pressure suits in those days.
Pressure suits were introduced after the Challenger disaster.
