I've done that many times in Mega Man 9, a few times in older Mega man's ..Mega Man 1 was bad for it, too..because when the boss dies, its weapons stay on screen and can still hurt you.. I think in Mega Man 2 though it was changed so that the boss' weapons disappear after they die.
