It's Time to Get Money Out of Politics
Bailouts. War. Unemployment. Our government is bought, and we're angry. Now, we're turning our anger into positive action. By signing this petition, you are joining our campaign to get money out of politics. Our politicians won't do this. But we will. We will become an unrelenting, organized wave advocating a Constitutional amendment to get money out of politics.
As the petition grows, we can use my show on MSNBC as a platform to force this issue to the center of the 2012 elections. Join us. Sign up. Tell your friends. Facebook it. Tweet it. #GetMoneyOut.
From our Washington Insider, Jimmy Williams, here is our Constitutional Amendment:
"No person, corporation or business entity of any type, domestic or foreign, shall be allowed to contribute money, directly or indirectly, to any candidate for Federal office or to contribute money on behalf of or opposed to any type of campaign for Federal office. Notwithstanding any other provision of law, campaign contributions to candidates for Federal office shall not constitute speech of any kind as guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution or any amendment to the U.S. Constitution. Congress shall set forth a federal holiday for the purposes of voting for candidates for Federal office."

Great video, I hope this gets lots of views. It's probably the key issue to solving our problems.

Interesting idea, but, will this lead to a situation where only the wealthiest Americans can run for a Federal office? If you outlaw this will they have to change the federal income tax code to eliminate the campaign contribution deduction?

@Richmunnich Good point! Currently only the wealthiest and corporately backed work in congress and the white house. The Federal Campaign Fund allotment is a mere pitance and only given to those candidates selected in the primary process which is where and when the special interests buy thier candidate through "contributions"(payolla). Can you envision some new ways that candidates can bring thier message to the people without spending millions on smear campaigns and rah-rah conventions?

Why do we need more constitutional amendments. This country was started with the premise that all men are created equal, so why did slavery persist. It persisted because of interpretation. Laws made of words will only be misinterpreted. We need to listen to interpret to existing law fairly. We need to punish the government when it interprets the law wrongfully. Who's law is it? It is the peoples law not the governments law. We must not allow the government to determine what rights we have.

@NewAmericaNow In order to reclaim our voice in the democratic process, we must disable the corrupting monetary influences that control our "representatives" in all branches of state and federal governments. If you have an alternative method of achieving this goal please share it.
