The bear hug is to high. i want to see self defense vs a lower bear hug.

@BladeKempMusic ,
Particularly if your attacker arches you back at the same time making the bear hug.

@dobberdoss just do a different move dont ya; admittedly bear hugs usually will need a strike involved in the defence. hard as hell getting out of a bearhug using JUST movement.

@DeRandomSpamm not meaning to start an argument, and nothing against rolls, i use em all the time theyre a great technique to have at your disposal, however the absorbtion a roll would take from a technique really isnt anything extra than just falling and breakfalling in a jujitsu/do fashion. if on the street someone happens to push you off balance so you can roll, then by all means roll away. rather roll than fall down, but for damage absorbtion its really not that useful

@dobberdoss So, you're referring that "a" technique is this particular technique?
DeRandomSpamm 10 months ago
@DeRandomSpamm,
here: "If a technique is done on an uke who wasn't trained to roll then it would hurt them a LOT more." You "imply" it works and even tried to validate it. Dude, just admit it. Aikido is for the movies

@dobberdoss So tell me, where does it state that I said this technique works?
DeRandomSpamm 10 months ago
@DeRandomSpamm,
The technique won't work full stop BECAUSE you have trained your uke to play a part in the technique itself (aikido's biggest draw back), by not letting go, by not again changing his stance, by hugging way higher than normal. Dude< Ive done aikido and your not fooling anyone
dobberdoss 11 months ago
@dobberdoss You don't roll to make a technique to look flashy. The reason for rolling in Aikido is to break the fall damage so you don't get hurt. If a technique is done on an uke who wasn't trained to roll then it would hurt them a LOT more.

Wow, what happened? Your other stuff is pretty good but this one is absolutely bs. If I'm ever attacked, I just hope it's that guy behind you. Fake as an original Batman fight scene.
