check out some fight club typography stuff, they're not dumbing it down for you, its a cool effect that enhances the viewing experiences and can add emphasis to specific words

God I hate commercials that have this crap. I can understand what they are saying. Why do I need these letters going in different directions?

A very good first production. Try to work on the camera moves a bit though. The shots don't all need to be so close in and some of the moves need to be slower so that they can be read.
