  • Cool! What's the opening slapstick comedy from? Has anyone ever been successfully prosecuted under the new Consumer Protection Regulations that replaced the Fraudulent Mediums Act?

  • @Widgetas By the way, an interesting paper dealing with psi that can be found at the Retro PsychoKinesis Project website:

CHANNELING EVIDENCE FOR A PK EFFECT TO INDEPENDENT OBSERVERS

BY H. SCHMIDT, R. MORRIS, and L. RUDOLPH

(Originally published in Journal of Parapsychology, Vol. 50, March 1986)

  • @Widgetas You might want to read: Evidence of Anomalous Information Retrieval Between Two Research Mediums: Telepathy, Network Memory Resonance, and Continuance of Consciousness by Gary Schwartz and Lina Russek

It was published in The Journal of the Society for Psychical Research. But if you're sincere in your interest, get the book Is There an Afterlife: A Comprehensive Overview of the Evidence. I can't say with certainty there's an afterlife, but it's a lie to suggest there's no evidence.

  • @Widgetas I'm familiar with far more papers that are favorable to the existence of psi than those dealing exclusively with mediums. If you think the existence of psi is nonsense I would recommend you visit The Retro PsychoKinesis Project website where you can read some of them. Also, I don't know if the initial Scole Report was published in the JSPR but you might want to check it out. Both Julie Beischel and Gary Schwartz have investigated mediums and published in peer reviewed journals.

  • @Widgetas First, let me repeat, if you want a broad overview of the research I would recommend two books. Is there an Afterlife: A Comprehensive Overview of the Evidence has a large appendix with plenty of peer reviewed papers mentioned. Unfortunately I can't find my copy at present. There is also Mediumship and Survival: A Century of Investigations by Alan Gauld. Those books are really where you should start if you're not being disingenuous and have a sincere interest in the subject.

  • @ar4216 I'd be interested if you could point me/anyone in the direction of peer reviewed research papers on the subject of psychics (which I assume you're referring to) where the conclusion is in favour of the psychic. Unless you mean some other kind of evidence?

  • No evidence? Are you more interested in promoting your current belief system or in examining the evidence honestly and with an open mind? If it's the latter you should check out books like Is There an Afterlife: A Comprehensive Overview of the Evidence or The Conscious Universe by Dean Radin. I've read some of the skeptical literature like Flim Flam by Randi and I grew up reading Phil Klass. Anyway, if you don't wish to learn about people like Leonora Piper that's fine. Just be honest about it.
