So grateful I found a detailed video on how to sanitize lipsticks.
First time ever that I've purchased a lipstick and when I opened it it was another color on top, someone had mixed there lipstick on top, I was digusted (still am)!
I'm going to scrape away the top layer too. I'm no germ-a-phob but I don't enjoy buying something someone else is using. Typically drugstore lipsticks I buy sealed, this was just a quick run in & found it on the way out.

I think this tutorial is great for your own make-up. But, with swaping make-up there is no way to 100% kill germs. The FDA and most doctors will tell you this is not safe. It's not just the top surface of the make-up that is because infected germs can actually seep down into the base of any makeup eyeshadows, lipstick, etc.

So, say you were to get pink eye from a specific eyeliner, could you use clean it with alcohol and then use it again or is it best to throw that kind of stuff away? I'm asking because I get allergic conjunctivitis a lot from other things that dont have to do with makeup, but I'm constantly told to throw away makeup afterwards anyway, which is really annoying when it happens frequently.

Does this method also work with paint pots?

I have heard if you freeze ur make up it also sanitizes to.
