Well, all good things have to come to an end eventually, right? This is the final mission from ACSL. Two of the behemoths (the big white pseudo-ACs), about 24 laser turrets, and IBIS lie in the path to victory. I may do a revisit on SL in the future and pick up a few more missions from it if I feel so inclined, but it's doubtful, no one seemed to want to make any requests *pouts*

Anyway, quick rundown of the mission. Starts off deceptively easy, just a long tunnel with some laser turrets in it. Beyond the end of that hall though is the first of two Behemoths. You can stay and destroy it if you like, but as you can see in the vid, it's possible to simply ignore him and move on. Yes you trade off a little AP from missile and grenade hits (hell, it decided to plasma-gat me while during my first run of this while I waited for the door to open.) After that, another OB down the hall and you reach a very large elevator.

At the bottom of the elevator is another tunnel guarded by laser turrets and that leads to a much larger room with a Behemoth that again can be skipped, but it's ultimately better to destroy it. Gat or a machine gun will work wonders here. They soak up around 300-400 rounds from an MG or about 270 from a gat. Once you take care of the Behemoth, trip the four switches then hop down the shaft that's opened up.

At the bottom of the shaft is a tunnel guarded by about 20 doors (if you'd like to count, leave a comment and I'll change the description to reflect it) that it's actually better to run through (like I'm doing) because your AC travels too fast for them to time correctly. Besides, who actually watches the running animation for an AC anymore? It's always boosting or quick boosting, I sometimes miss the old days of waking around in an AC.

Once you get past the tunnel of doors, it's time to take on IBIS. S/he's a three stage boss. The first stage isn't too bad, but it likes to fly around, when IBIS lands it'll do one of two things, either fire laser blasts at you (like it did to me) or it'll fire a very nasty beam laser. If you have a slow powerful weapon like a laser cannon or a grenade launcher, that's the perfect chance to get hits in. After its wing break, it moves on to stages two and three. Stage two isn't terribly bad, but it likes to close in and slash you with its blade (which does a whopping 3200 damage per hit.) At some point it'll begin scanning you, if it completes the scan, IBIS moves onto his third stage, it's really no different than stage two other than being VERY aggressive.

ACSL was the first of the AC games to have an AI that can "learn" your moves and work to figure out your attack pattern and kill you with it. If you useany AC in the arena as a pawn a lot, you'll notice that it'll react differently to your attacks each time you fight them, especially if you use the same moves over and over. This is also applied to IBIS but on an advanced level in that it learns your patterns VERY rapidly when in the "scanning" mode.

After you defeat IBIS, s/he turns the world over to human hands and the ending cut scenes play. I skipped the credits to save on time. That's ACSL. I'm doing AC3 next, so if you have any suggestions, please leave them on this video or on my channel ^^

  • do you get left underground or do they get you back at the end? i never got that.

  • @dragonkillaga I always assumed that the plane leaving during the ending cut scene had you and your AC on it. I guess we'll never know for sure.

  • Hence why it is dual voiced.

  • You know...I think Sera is the Controller. It was an AI built for maintaining order but when Its core (IBIS) forced it to do something that it went against its regulations...It malfunctioned but carried out the orders. When you destroy it in AC3.I think it does a final directive and then is brought back to IBIS.Because of this,it gives advice but always sticks to it's orders from IBIS.It has to,but it can still give a bit of help because it's still wants order as it was made.

  • @KewneRain They DO bring you back...can't you guys see they're CHARGING you with the expenses at the end? How can they do that to you if they leave you back there, hacking my bank account? XD

And how come nobody thought of slicing through IBIS's controller pillar instead of fighting IBIS's frame? I'd lol really hard if I ever see something like that!

  • @AlchemistiD There was a moment of silent panic...and then IBIS deliver's s/he's final monologue, cue end cutscene and credits. Personal Armored Core CMOA.

  • She's a toaster!

The most awesome single player campaign related thing to ever happen to me happened on this mission.

I've spent the whole fight unloading everything I've got into IBIS, discarding weapon after weapon as my ammo runs dry. Finally, my solid EO runs out and all I've got is my trusty MLB-2551 laser blade, and next to no AP. I decide "F**k it", and simply charge straight ahead as IBIS charges me.

We swing at the exact same time, there's a CRUNCH sound, and the screen goes black.

  • 17 to 19 doors depending on if you count the first and last doors that are a different design. :)
