Dr. Gebisa Ejeta, a native of Ethiopia, won the 2009 World Food Prize. His sorghum hybrids, which are resistant to drought and the devastating Striga weed, have enhanced the food supply of hundreds of millions of people in sub-Saharan Africa. A professor at Purdue University, Dr. Ejeta was educated at Ethiopias Jimma Agricultural and Technical School, which was established by Oklahoma State University under the U.S. governments Point Four program. Dr. Ejeta was on the OSU campus for Research Week 2010 and spoke with Matt Elliott, reporter for STATE magazine.
