@m06een00 no it's not

I think it was due to lack of belief in his own abilities. Gilmour joined PF in 1968 as Barrett's replacement on guitar and vocals. Waters was then the new songwriter and in my opinion, Waters' songwriting saved the band.
Gilmour's guitar playing became as much part of the Pink Floyd sound as Barrett, Waters, Wright and Mason.
In 1978 I found a copy of "Sounds" on a London train. In it: it says: Mega Star makes Fine Solo Album. David Gilmour: Alive and Intriguing!

The FINEST guitar phrasing ever is by DG hands down!!!!

Good times!!!!!!!!

@m06een00 eh.. no, this is not the studio version!! the solo is not even played as the studio version!!.. I don't believe that David Gilmour's band is miming on live tv.. that's too cheap for an artist like him! :D

Sloppy? This is the studio version. Gilmour and the band are miming to it.

@lionhasalreadybe you're absolutly right man!

my late uncle's name... Gilmour is a genious....!!

I don't understand why David has never performed any music from his solo career when he did his solo tour in 2006. This and raise my rent are some of his finest moments especially the latter. ooh! aND CRY FROM THE STREET!!!

I just watched Steve Vai's orchestral performance of "For the Love of God" and it left me cold, this on the other hand never fails to give me goose bumps, as does all of Gilmour's solos. He is easily the best ever rock soloist by miles. No one else comes close to being in such good taste artistically speaking and I mean no disrespect to Steve Vai, who is simply amazing by the way.
