Thank you for this wonderful video of the great, game, under-rated Island Whirl. Wish his precious, unique bloodlines were more widespread (too much N/N Dancer inbreeding has seriously compromised the soundness of our racing stock). Hope his get continue onward -- watch for Asphalt! ;-)

It seems like I don't hear Marshall Cassidy half as much as I should.

I was at this race live and after visiting the paddock and seeing Sunny's Halo's impeccable appearance, I unloaded. Unfortunately, Eddie Maple kept him on the VERY dead rail which doomed him. He looked like a winner in the stretch, no? The rail was like quicksand that whole week. He had no shot. Marshall RULES! He called a race at Saratoga on the final day this year. Didn't miss a beat.

Terrific comments. I always wondered if the rail was dead that day; Sunny's Halo likely would have been the winner had it not been.
I just listened to Marshall's 2008 call of the Loudonville, and will be posting that race to pay homage to him. It was great hearing him again. His voice has changed a fair bit, but yes, he didn't miss a beat!
Thanks for the heads-up.

What a race! What a finish! What a call! Marshall Cassidy - so cool over the NYRA public address system, so relaxed under pressure, above all accurate. Thanks for another great post, cf1970.

Hey, thanks for your enthusiasm and kind support, I really appreciate it! Marshall Cassidy was a consumate pro. My friend "gocashbaby" was absolutely right when he said that Marshall's calls sound like a ballad; very smooth.
Have a great weekend, my friend!
