On March 9, 2009, Sister Helen Prejean spoke out for the repeal of the Death Penalty in Maryland. Her remarks were made at the Parish Hall of the historic St. Annes Church, in Annapolis, MD, near the State House where the General Assembly meets. Sister Prejean also ripped former President and ex-Texas Governor, George W. Bush, and his then legal counsel, Alberto "Gonzo" Gonzales, for the cursory manner in which they carried out hundreds of executions of condemned prisoners in Texas. Ms. Jane Henderson served as the moderator for the event, which was sponsored by the Maryland Citizens Against State Executions, (CASE MARYLAND). She is the group's Executive Director. For background on the death penalty issue, please go to CASE MARYLAND, at: http://www.mdcase.org/ For information on Sister Prejean and her "Dead Man Walking" book, which led to a film, a play and an opera, see: http://www.prejean.org/ Check out, too, George Orwells account of witnessing an execution in British-controlled Burma, in his compelling short story, "A Hanging"

This lady is a useful idiot for the abortion industry. She helps to sway voters to vote for the pro-abortion candidate by supplying the argument, "Well, the Republicans support the death penalty-so either way you vote, your supporting murder"-which is obviously bullcrap. Capital punishment is justified according to St. Thomas Aquinas, for the defense of society. (somehow I question her supposed pro-life beliefs, since she was willing to fundraise for the ACLU-big abortion enablers)

There are three men on death row in Maryland who have been there for well over 20 years. They need to die. Surprising as it may seem, they can get the gas chamber, still a legal option before March 25, 1994.

This lady really doesn't know what she's talking about. Bush didn't 'kill human beings', he didnt even sign death warrants. The Governor of Texas actually has little to do with the process. The jury sentences the killer to death, the appellate courts uphold it, the trial court sets an execution date and the killer asks the board for clemency. The only part Bush could play was to stay the execution once for 60-120 days or commute the sentence to life with the board's recommendation.

Why doesn't this nun crusade against abortion which has taken the lives of 45 million innocent human beings since Roe v Wade, instead of fighting for guilty convicted murderers.

Thank you for making a speech like this. Yes these 5 men on DR in MD do not need a cocktail, they need to be given a chance. Whats the longest man that sits on DR now? 26 years ? I think if these men were released they would feel like caged animals for the rest of there days.
