...continued...there is a community of Cretan muslims in Lebanon who converted to islam a long time ago in Crete, they speak Cretan Greek and are very proud of their heritage- they consider themselves as Greek & fight hard to preserve their culture with their children-who are we to tell them they are not Greek? Are our egos so shallow? Was this the way of Christ to cause enmity and hatred between people? Us Greeks invented logic, maybe we should use it and think a little before we open our mouths.

As a Greek and Orthodox Christian I must say that Islam is part of our history as much as Orthodoxy is a part of Islamic history and even in those lands today that are now Muslim states. If we are truly going to live side-by-side in peace we must be honest with each other. In honesty I have little confidence in Muslims wishing to bring Sharia Law in Greece. In turn, some Islamic countries prohibit Christianity. These have to be overcome before real peace can be explored.

Peace be upon you my brother, I love the way you have put it :)
May God bless you for your true understanding of the teachings of the great teacher and prophet of God, Jesus.
May we all live in peace between each other, and love each other, for God has made us brothers.

Hmm...let us talk about fanaticism, because I think in the end it is something human, and not something caused by religions. Wherever you have corrupt rulers, who try to control the masses, there you have ignorant people who follow these rulers' lead. It is a political phenomenon, not a religious one per se. What I have to say to that, is that Muslims are obliged to stand up against unjust rulers, and when they don't, it is not because of the religion, rather out of ignorance of it. Rethink it.

I don't mind you not accepting me/us, it is God's acceptance that I seek, but nevertheless, us not being Orthodox Christians anymore, does not in any way make us less Greek, as being bein12theist does not make you any less Greek, or being Buddhist or Rei ki practicioner, or whatever. We are Greek because we come from Greek parents, and love Greece as our homeland.

greeks still associate islam with everything turkish and ottoman. they forget that arab countries suffered under ottoman rule too.
becoming muslim does not mean becoming turkish or arab. greeks forget that christianity was nurtured by arabs before any greek heard of it.

diimitra26ath, no one is really asking anyone to convert.. They are simply saying they exist & for you to get to know them! You people are all fools.. you should be proud of the fact how diverse your country is becoming! After all where did the idea of modern day democracy start? it does not suit the people of such a great nation to insult those who are also part of that nation based on the fact they are muslim!! go out and get to know these people! The biggest fear is the UNKOWN!!!!
Wa alaikum assalaam all,
Jazakum Allahu khairan. :)
