The UV Master tool in ZBrush allows you to create beautiful UV maps for your models. But did you know you can also use it to paint on your flattened UVs right in ZBrush? It can also be used to sculpt deformations on the flattened object, to manually adjust the UV geometry and the chart orientation.

In this two-part video, I'll be covering some of the more interesting things you can do with UV Master.

  • when I export model and texture, to use in c4d, the texture does not fit the model. I unwrapped it first using uv master. but when I export it from zbrush as obj and open it in c4d and then apply the texture map, its doesn;t fit. Am I missing something here, please help? :)

  • @tubesurfer007 My initial guess is that the image was not flipped vertically prior to export. ZBrush's UV space is flipped vertically from that of most other 3D apps. So images coming out of it must be flipped in order to align properly with the UV space in programs like LightWave, Maya, and presumably C4D. If you didn't flip the image, go into the Texture menu and click on the Flip V button, then export the image and see if it doesn't fit.

  • ZBrush users note! TheEZhexagon has developed a plugin that allows you to paint on the morphed UV. It works great adn allows you to avoid the UV Master workaround.
