Judy: Men living with an uncomfortable condition. Our knowledge network has been setup today to take your calls about ED, erectile dysfunction. Because it is a sensitive subject, you may want to ask your children to leave the room now, before we return. The number to call is 832-7500.

Reporter: This evening we have information about a condition that affects millions of men. It is a very sensitive subject so if you want to send the kids out of the room right now, you probably would be advised to do so.

The problem is called ED, erectile dysfunction. The result can be shameful and embarrassing for many men. So much so that many men dont want to talk about it, they dont even want to go to the doctor to get counseled. But this man and his wife did. They want to share their story so you dont have to suffer like they did.

Newscaster: I kept telling him that he didnt have to do anything for me, that I could live this way. But I knew that it was devastating to him. Its just part of a mans ego, libido. He just was not happy. He was so depressed.

Reporter: Were going talk to them at length, and a urologist, as well, to discuss the causes and the kind of therapies you can get if you experience ED, in a special report tonight at 10. But right now it is your chance to ask your questions of all our health experts and our doctors from the urology team of Austin. The number to call is 832-7500. We want to talk briefly right now to with Dr. Brian Kansas. What causes ED?

Dr. Brian Kansas: Therere a lot of causes. It could be related to diabetes, high blood pressure, certain medications that you take, vascular disease, any kind of nerve problem, or hormone imbalances.

Reporter: But the man has to realize that this is their body; its not their fault, right?

Dr. Kansas: Absolutely. Its very common. We see this a lot and I think thats the first step in looking for treatment because its a very treatable issue.

Reporter: Alright. Dr. Kansas, thank you for being with us. Our health experts will be with us until 6:30. There are even a few folks here that can answer your questions in Spanish as well too. You can also write your question on our message board at KEYE TV.com. The number to call again, 832-7500. Judy?
