I purchased a low cost, actually the lowest priced surround sound system that Wal-Mart had on the market. I think it was about $125.00 range. I cut in to the sheetrock and built in the system with the DVD player. It really sits in the closet of the bathroom now. Sure the Watts. are low on this low cost system, but really how much sound does one require for a master bedroom? - Anyways I cut the sheetrock and ran the wires behind the wall, then under the baseboards. I put the sub wof. under the bed. On a scale of 1- 10 I give this low cost project a 9 1/2 due to the simple fact that it looks very custom, did not cost any money, and give a great sound for pennies on the dollar. Patching the sheetrock from running the wires was the hardest part, and was took more time rather than hard work.
This is proof that you can have a surround system that wont break your pocket book. Hope this helps, and remember that you can always purchase one or two steps above the low cost unit that I have and be happy. ( Total cost was as follows: System $125.00 Cables $25.00 Sheetrock supplies $20.00 Paint $10.00 Wood trim $22.00
and some personal work that took a few days.

  • sorry about that.. wish i would of taken a video of that part. just cut the sheetrock using a blade and pop in the wires and then reuse the same sheetrock and sheetrock mud and repaint. I used a hopper to put back on the texture

  • Been there for 4 years and never an issue. Still works GREAT

  • actually what I am thinking is HELL ya, I sold my house in the worst time of year and made a hell of a profit, and all the other houses are still for sale and MINE SOLD and I made out like a bandet.. Thats what I was thinking...

  • I cut a small whole in the wall, where the speakers go and then a small whole near the bottom of the wall next to the base boards. I then ran behind the baseboards

  • why would you waste all that time and put a 100$ home theater in it .. that system has a total harmonic distortion of about 1or 2 % . for a extra 150 bucks could have got a onkyo set up with a thd of .08 so you could crank it up with out hearing hum or fuzz.. . dont get me wrong its better then tv speakers , but when you put that much time into making it look nice whats a extra 100 - 150 bucks for quality that is going to last.

  • @oooanthonyooo I 100% agree.. My house is on the market for sale and I was simly keeping myself busy during that process, and It looks nice to have this for the prospective buyer. I will put in a nicer system in my new house next month.

  • @Txdave01 how the hell did you put them in the wall? I mean like.. are you even able to do that after the house is already build ? O.o

  • Nice work. Not everyone can has the expertise to run the cables. How does it sound? I bought an Onkyo receiver and a set of Klipsch speakers and a sub for my bedroom. Didn't run the cables in the wall but have a great sounding system. Paid good deal more though.

  • Mediocre stereo setup is a lot better than cheap surround. Even for this cheap.

  • why did you get at&t u-vevse it is suck my re boot it sife evey 3 week

  • thought u were actually going to show how u did it
