  • It depends on how much heat will directly come in contact with the table top..

    Personally I use 1/2" steel since I often braze on the table top for long periods.

    If you are using an oxygen acetylene torch I wouldn't go any less than 3/8th,

    1/8th will warp quickly if very much heat (oxy/ace) is applied directly on the metal.

  • can you recommend a good 'cover' for me to make a brazing/welding table. I am thinking to cover my 2x6 table top with a 1/8 th inch steel plate.
