A movement from a recent fixed media composition entitled ELEMENTS. This represents my first attempt at a fixed video piece. After working on Gi•nt's Eye (giant's eye was a real time, improvisatory piece I worked on last year), I wanted to compose something that was easy and portable. After the premiere at CU Boulder's Atlas Black Box, I decided to reduce the surround sound audio to stereo and upload to youtube.
There are seven movements overall, as well as an introduction movement and animated menus. Crescendo, Fermata, Staccato, Trill, Slur, Sforzando, and Decresdendo. I performed as a vocalist, pianist, toy pianist, saxophonist, percussionist, and guitarist. Other performers include Andrew Halladay (guitar), Anthony Green (piano), Emma Shubin (flute), Anna Seda (cello), Greg Simon (trumpet)
For those of you curious (if you couldn't tell just by watching and listening), the video was composed using 3D Studio Max, Final Cut Studio, Photoshop, After Effects (Trapcode Particular in particular), Processing, and Jitter. The audio was composed in Finale, ProTools, Digital Performer, Logic, Reason, Max/MSP. Some of the still images in the Sforzando movement are from royalty free horror websites, and a few of the choir sounds and explosions in the introduction and decrescendo movements are from a royalty free audio source.
Please enjoy, and let me know what you think. Like I said, this is my first attempt at a fixed media piece, so I'd appreciate any compliments or constructive criticism! Thanks!!
