  • A breath hold is not necessary but can be recommended if the patient is able to. Also to set the goal you have to calculate based on kg. (Wt in kg x 3) x 5ml this will give you a rough estimate of what the patient should be able to do in ml.

  • she needs to hold it in!

  • you mean Wrong

  • oh my god

rong its rong the pt must hold for 6 seconds and exhale slowly this is not RT

  • I have that thing!

  • Geee I guess you don't want to cough either...What about a nice 5-6 second breath hold to equalize pressure in the lungs. Glad this is not my RT.

  • This is IS the Pt not exhale out throug it

he should inhale deeply and slowly.

also the Pt try to hold the ball not the breath cuz' if he hold his breath the ball will falling down.

The IS used after surgury and for treat and prevent atelectasis.

  • GOOD VID!

  • That is the wrong way to explain it to the pt. Pt needs to gently exhale out and take a slow deep breath, and hold it for 3 to 6 seconds. It is to prevent or reverse atelectasis.

  • absolute rubbish. This is not and never has been spirometry.
