Spellbound (1945) is a psychological mystery thriller directed by Alfred Hitchcock. It tells the story of the new head of a mental asylum who turns out not to be what he claims. The film stars Ingrid Bergman, Gregory Peck, Michael Chekhov and Leo G. Carroll. It is an adaptation by Angus MacPhail and Ben Hecht of the novel The House of Dr. Edwardes (1927) by Hilary Saint George Saunders and John Palmer (writing as "Francis Beeding").   • Love this movie. It felt a little week in areas but peck and Ingrid pulled it together.

  • Wow, looking at this just reminds me of Hitchcock's great sophistication. The murder mysteries we see to day could only hope to make their stories as good as this. Well told.

    The gun shot, apart from the red flash, apparently (i seem to remember reading) the hand holding the gun is a plaster cast of a large hand and larger gun, something to do with the focal depth or something. Have a look at the hand when it turns sideways.

    Excellent film.

  • If he had been clever he could have finished her off and gotton away with it this is simply because she had realised a few mintues after the conversation that he did it and not contacting anybody about it great twist tho
