Actually, it's more than no olympics. Mario & Sonic 3 will not be a sports game at all. According to the rumors.

What could it possibly be? I've heard of wacky sequels deviating from formula like Mario 2 USA, but I've never seen a sequel change it's entire genre.

The will make a Mario & Sonic 3 but this time it has nothing to do with the Olympic Games. Maybe just games like in Wii Sports/Resort etc...
