This car 4 days before the video was taken was in a backyard in Arizona for 30 years. It was for sale on CRAIGSLIST!!!! and this guy bought it, fresh gas and showed up at the cruise in Scottsdale, AZ off of Indian Head Rd. 1961 Ford Starliner that someone had stuffed in a 427 cammer motor. Open headers, sounds even better in person.
For 1966 NASCAR (hurt by lower attendance) allowed the Hemi to return on all tracks. They even welcomed the Cammer, but handed it a 427 lb penalty to discourage the use of overhead cams

A few Cammers were installed in 1964 Galaxies, photo-graphed and paraded before journalists, but none actually rolled off the lines, which put NASCAR in a quandary. Chrysler had a double-overhead-cam Hemi waiting in the wings should the Ford SOHC prove dominant

@anthony1bad351 Same was said about the race hemi, 500 had to be produced to qualify them to be used in NASCAR. Street hemi's were more available but only 500 race hemi's.

@ford351cmustang The 427, the basis for the Cammer, first came out in 1963, where they produced mixed results in NASCAR racing (the premier series for manufacturers). Joe Weatherly won the driver championship in a Pontiac, but Ford took the manufacturer's championship anyway. In 1964 Chrysler introduced the 426 Hemi, which outpaced the 427 Ford

@bubblejomay the only reason why ford didnt put the cammer in full production was because they didnt want a sixteen year old kid jumping into a 650+ hp car with no experience... Well maybe not the only reason but it is one reason...

@bubblejomay Ford didn,t plan for the Cammer to be a production engine obviously...it was a quick fix to match the Chrysler Hemi...which it did...your right,..Ford should have planned for a milder street Cammer to make it eligible for Nascar...but when you think about it...a fast lap at Daytona doesn,t make for a 500 mile race winning engine...Chrysler found that out with the early 426 Hemis

@joncaddy Well, guess what. If any of you ever saw "Standing in the Shadows of Mowtown" you will notice the scene where the Funk Bros. were riding in the station wagon it had a tag on the front that said SOHC, hmm, I wonder where that car is.

@68bobba1 Yes, but it was tested at Daytona in a 1964 Galaxie and without pushing the car all out it turned the fastest lap to date. GM and Chrysler both got the blues quick and began crying. But where Ford blew it, the knew they had to sell 500 to the public to be eligible for NASCAR and they would not do it. IDIOTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

@ford351cmustang ...handicapped and ford not having the cammer they both mdecided the next logical step was to improve aerodynamics to make up for lack of power. That all got out of control when the daytonas and superbirds were going to fast and nascar got pissed again and shut that down too,and that's about when the modern nascar setup came to be.Even that has been improved tp the point that they need restrictor plates to slow em down.

@ford351cmustang Actually ford built this because they knew they were gonna get raped by chrysler because of what chrysler was doing with race hemis. When chrysler saw this they built a dual overhead cam hemi prototype and threatened ford with it and nascar got pissed at both ford and chrysler. They said no cammer, and either did away with the chrysler hemi for a minute or just handicapped it.So ford made the tunnel port 427 and then the cj,and eventually the boss 429.With chrysler hemis being...
