Haha, nice man, downtown in Albany, NY is almost just like downtown Portland for it's shitty congested traffic. Which is also why I choose to ride fixed gear.

@jzip71 even when rode 18 miles each way to and from work 5 days a week, i got no respect from drivers. i've been as close as I could get to the edge of the road and had 18-wheelers crowd me off the road, sometimes even having to stop and pull my bike up the curb into the grass. the only answer i see to the problem is traffic lanes everywhere being wide enough for even terrible drivers to stay in their place, and bike lanes wide enough to give us a safe margin

exactly, i run red lights all day, i have been doing for years and the only 3 times ive been seriously hit by cars were all their fault, 2 pulling out infront of me, the other was chaning lanes and forced me off the road

I partially agree with you - their riding is dangerous and gives other cyclists a bad rep. However, I know that some drivers out there would rather see all cyclists die than share the road.

it doesnt matter how cyclists act, drivers will never respect us...if every cyclist in the world went out tomorrow morning and stopped running red lights and riding against the flow of trafic and w.e ...would drivers stop treating us like shit? No, theyd do it worse because they'd think we're pushovers

as an avid bicyclist and a bike commuter i think you guys are idiots for riding the way you do. riding in the oncoming lane, against traffic, blowing red lights and going down one ways the wrong way is not only dangerous, but stupid.

follow the rules so drivers respect us and our right to share the roads.
