Well, we've all heard the Patsy Cline version of this H. Cochran & H. Howard hit, but you have to hear this one by Arizona born Miss Linda Ronstadt. It's FANTASTIC. It's been covered by others, (Faron Young's is up here on You Tube) but Linda's cover is TOPS in my book. She did this "live" at The Troubadour in Los Angeles California. I've been there, but wasn't lucky enough to catch her performing there. Like I said, Ronstadt's version is great, and check out the fine job Sneaky Pete does on the steel guitar.

  • I 've been a diehard fan of Linda's since 1975, but I gotta tell ya-nobody has ever sung this song like Patsy Cline did; and no one ever will. That may seem a little over the top, but when I listen to that version I can hardly believe that such a singer ever existed....a regular human being who lived and breathed like all the rest of us sang that good. R.I.P Patsy,..and to LInda, many thanks for covering Patsy's version of this awesome Cochran & Howard song as well as you did.

  • does anybody think that taylor swift or brittney or lady gaga or (insert pop singer's name here) could pull off this song? Stevie Nicks or Grace Slick or Anne Wilson al powerful ballad singers didn't even attempt it. aaron neville and trisha yearwood did an ok cover but again, Linda had a far more successful duet with A Neville which launched him into the mainstream. why is she not in the RR HOF??? what a joke!!!!

  • Please please~ it'd be nice not to compare apples & oranges, when it comes to Patsy & Linda. Their tone, their vibro & their attitude was totally different. I tend to agree w/ faud about Linda not being in the RRHOF; I'm from Oklahoma and with the likes of Leon Russell only receiving an Honorable Mention of sorts in that high society org of hoeydy doydies, who cares. She doesn't care and her fans & supporters don't care. She's the unadulterated Queen of Rock, always has been & always will be.

  • They don't sing songs like this today because they can't. This song is timeless, but it takes an artist -- not a singer -- to own it. Patsy and Linda own it.

  • HER VOICE WAS FLAWLE3SS ! WHO CAN COMPARE ?

  • @dpkastel I don't need to say it again, but... ye-a-a-h, sure is true.

  • @dpkastel Absolutely... best version ever.

  • @wildmustang67 yeah, now you're talking!

  • @faud03 Naw, taylor, brittney nor lady gaga couldn't touch Linda on this song, but Leanne Rimes puts her in the dust--best version I've ever heard of it with the possible exception of Patsey Cline, herself. I love Linda's singing on this and many, many other great old tunes, but Leanne absolutely exudes heartache and longing in her version.

  • love this song... I can still remember those days when Patsy Cline sang this song...

  • Patsy Cline , Leanne Rimes ...
