Why do we have momma's boys and daddy's girls? We lack rites of passage for two reasons. One, traditional roles have changed Two, we have a culture of 'no responsibility'.

  • I remember the rites of passage, a church I went to in Indy had a rites program, u are right not too many exist. The adults now do know the way so we are not pulling these children up, our children are being let down by us.We have so much work to do

  • If we 'enlightened' adults work with our children, and the young people around us, this will make a big difference.

  • great video, brother.

Were we to have a rights of passage ceremony in America how would we go about doing it? What would it consist of for each gender?

I don't see Sweet 16's as a right of passage for American women cuz the ceremony isn't based on bringing forth the young girls into womanhood. I can't say much about Bar Mitzvah's because I'm not Jewish... but these 2 are the only type of things done in America where that I could think of where it could be remotely seen as passage rites

  • I enjoy your logic and I agree with it. The parents are responsible for the way they look at adult children
