  • As a pilot I wish more people had a grasp on reality like this guy does. I actually cringe when I see folks in pajamas and flip flops get upset when we take the time to fix what is broken. Even after announcing that "it's better to be down here wishing you were up there, than up there wishing you were down here". Still, people rather fly on a broken plane than an hour delay. How can people be in such a rush to get to Disneyland they are willing to risk their lives to get there 60 minutes sooner?

  • Hilarious!!!

  • @captainjman1976 I've never gotten that logic either. If I'm on a flight and there's a 3 hr delay, I'm thankful, because that means the plane was actually checked properly, a problem was detected and its being fixed...which equals safe flying. The alternative, to check things too fast or to take a risk flying when there's a problem, isn't something you really want to do if you are 40, 000 feet in the air.

  • Why is this bit so popular? I feel like most of the people don't remember what he's talking about at all. Plus, Louis CK is marginally funny at that.

  • #2= "Pencil whip"is when a mechanic will say everything is fine,or in aviation terms "ops (operational) check good, could not duplicate"-but that is a very small percentage. every profession has these types of guys, and we ALL hate em.But the 99% are fantastic and work well with the pilots to get it fixed, or deferred per the MEL as fast as possible. They work on MANY aircraft types, with old and new technology.Too often people do not respect them, some pilots are unfairly arrogant and mean to them

  • @sleepyjarrod-for all of you guys who read my posts, I want to stress another fact that I didn't really dwell on in the posts I made. Maintenance (in aviation they are referred to as Airframe and Power-plant=A&P's) 99 out of 100 times do a FANTASTIC JOB. Just as much as the pilots are responsible for your lives, the A&P's do a lot of the work behind the scenes to keep us all safe! Unsung hero's, really! Only about 1% will be management brown nosers and "pencil whip" a plane back into service
