@spiderlime But you could also say that Händel's piece (you're referring to the Rejouissance) is remarkably similar to hundreds of other pieces that were written at that time or earlier. In fact, I don't think it's remarkable, at all. It's just a commonplace way to begin a piece, nothing special or significant about it. It just feels remarkable to us today, because we have forgotten all those other pieces that used it.
