Kasha & Aaron (kashamusic.com), from the concert/ discussion at Reuter Center on the UNCA campus, March 29th 2009. We closed the program with this cello/ piano/ voice original (text and music copyright 2009) song "Stars"...

Text:
Here is the light of a star, only just now arriving,
as if we would be waiting... and we are
waiting, yes we are.

Under this encircling sky,
sailors knew the stars could guide them...
dare to wander far from shore,
stars will guide you home.

The baby laughs when you shake the rattle,
and it thinks the rattle's purely gone when you hide it away.
Every time the rattle reappears, it's such a complete surprise,
in this game every baby's born to play.

We will teach the child to know:
Things you cannot see can still be there,
you can close your weary eyes,
the world will still be there.

So we learn to take it all for granted.
We sleep and dream, we assume the dawn.
Til someone we truly truly trusted lies
or someone we truly loved dies.
Then what is gone is gone.

Should we believe in things we cannot see?
or keep looking up, for things like stars we can see
which for all we know might have burnt out long ago...

Take as true whatever can guide you,
whatever can guide you home.

Under this encircling sky,
sailors knew the stars could guide them,
dare to wander far from shore,
stars will guide you home.
