So myself and Alien Jon worked out a different chain attachment strategy: Embed a pair of washers on the end of a chain in the first layers of the weave and then thread the chain up through the middle of the head all the way up, ending with a couple of links sticking out the top.
That way, there is a weight at the bottom, allowing for better stability and less strain on the top layers of the weave.

I got them from a sikh temple in leicester but any sikh temple should have them but remember to take off your shoes and cover your hair if you are thinking of making some poi i would use larger wick or rope 10 or 12mm as the ones here are a bit to skinny also instead of passing the ends through the center at the end get some kevlar thred and sow around the top after pulling them tight and then trim them back also try experimenting with other knots search laneyards on here for ideas
