That's right, the St. Anger edits are back, and we're picking up right from where we left off with My World, track 6 on the CD. You might be wondering why I've decided to pick this back up after so many years since the last edits, and even longer since the album's been out. Well, its because I've seen other people try their hand at editing the album since then, and none of what I found did anything for me. I think people have a tendency to over-think the songs and go nuts with re-arranging. These songs don't need crazy re-arranging, they just need a little tightening and polishing; basically some care that Metallica at the time couldn't give them at the time. My edits keep the songs as they more or less were arranged on the CD, just trimming down the pointless parts of non stop riffing and removing vocal bits that don't add up to the theme of the song. Basically, for me its about taking what's there and seeing what serves the song best, and then taking those parts and organizing them to bring the best out of these tracks.

For this song, I trimmed up the intro a little and shortened the "Its my world you can't have it" part by one measure. I also completely removed the "Not only do I not know the answer/it only rains on me" part, as I couldn't see how that added anything to the song in the long run. As the track is now I feel its a lot tighter and has a much stronger sense of theme and direction. Original track length: 5:45. New length: 3:59

  • this just doesnt sound right or something...the original is better in my opinion

  • @HofnerBaby he didnt do it, it was after the album was finished one of his engineers fucked with the tracks and didnt tell anyone until it was too late. They had sent the master tracks to Activision before this had happened for their DLC pack and that wasnt brick walled, and sounds MUCH better.

  • where's the insanity of the original version? that's what gives this song its power

  • Your really smart doing stuff like this, can you try and make the quality of Death Magnetic a bit better because Rick Rubin did a terrible job quality wise.
