Open console and type:

recorddemo DEMONAME

(this will record demo,DEMONAME is name you want to call it)

stoprecording

(this will stop recording demo)

after that you can view your demo by typing

playdemo DEMONAME

If you want to convert your demo to AVI you will have to type following

avidemo DEMONAME

this will export your demo to series of TGA images which you will have to "combine" into AVI using some software like pjBmp2Avi which you can download here:

http://www.digital-digest.com/software/download.php?sid=1017&ssid=0&d...

Software is simple to use

p.s.

You will notice that your TGA files will be in low resolution, if you want to increase it type following in console (before typing avidemo)

com_avidemowidth 1680
com_avidemoheight 1050

(note that you can replace numbers with resolution of your choice example 1024 x 768 etc. )

BUT DONT FORGET THAT HIGH RESOLUTION = very large file size

so even short clips lasting for as little as 5 seconds can end up having 1 GB size or more

Bad side of this method is that you will have to record sound separate and than add it to avi in some software (you can add it in one i mentioned above if your sound is in .wav format)

I hope this helped

i guess you can use this for Quake IV and Pray because they are also using id Tech 4, but i didnt try it so dont quote me on this

  • tf2 is team fortres 2 right?

  • where will i find the tga files

  • Hi, TGA files are found in C:> Program files > DOOM3 > base > demos > your demo name *

    * depends on your drive letter and install location, but it should be in "DOOM 3 > base > demos" folder

see all

  • Thanks for the help about those darn screen size codes! I couldn't figure that out!

(And you might want to change the description. The game is called Prey, not Pray. :P)

  • @kryticalAssasin tf2 is source engine and doom 3 is id tech, they are different

In case you dont know how to record CS:S, i will help you out.

Open console with tilde key (¸) and than type

record demoname (if you for example want to record how you killed someone with headshot it would be something like "record headshot1"

  • I think this was good :)
