This is a demonstration of the Wasp Synthesizer I sold on eBay. The auction ran from Sep. 24 to Oct. 4, 2008.

I originally had a link to the auction item here, but it is too old now and the item has been removed.

My Wasp sold for a disappointing $687 dollars. Congratulations to the lucky winner of the auction. The timing of my auction coincided with the tanking of the US economy and I'm afraid that scared off a lot of potential bidders. I've seen other Wasp synths sell on eBay for over $1200 even in a non-operating condition.

Thanks for listening, rating, commenting, and subscribing to my videos.

  • this looks just like the DA Hornet vst plugin

  • @Racerjen1 That's right. It's because the Hornet plugin is intended to give you a virtual "Wasp". They couldn't name it "Wasp" I suppose for legal reasons.

It reminds of the time I was at the top of a mountain with a beautiful view below and heard a kid say to his dad, "wow, it's just like Google Earth!"

  • @eidco Actually, I own the only Hornet ever made, it was a prototype which incorporated the Wasp Deluxe, Spider sequencer and a real keyboard and I ended up with it after Electronic Dream Plant (Oxford) went bust. I think the VST plug is called that because it too is more than a Wasp!

  • @paulwiffen Cool...thanks for that info. You're a lucky guy (or maybe you paid for it with sweat and under-appreciated hard work).

  • Whoever bought this got a steal, those mods are cool. Anywhere i can learn to do those mods myself?

  • @Bunechunk I did these mods so long ago, I can't remember much about them. I did buy the schematics (which you can now download online after a little searching). I then just figured it out by some bold experimentation. I think it started out of frustration with the stupid pitch bend knob. Good luck.

  • I wish the company had thought of a different approach to the wasp. If I had owned the company, I would have not have sold the the Wasp for professional use at all. I would had sold it as an Fx synth like the Korg Montron, as a fun way to add some character to a project for a home studio. Another way I would of pitched this product, would have been to the common man as a fun way to learn how to use a synth, or to kids as a toy. I just think that it is so repulsive how all the cool ideas were th

  • Thanks for posting this video, it brought back some fun memories! I sold mine for £250 back in 1996 to fund another keyboard...I wish I'd kept it now!

  • @eidco How did you guess? My last two paychecks from the company never arrived because it went bust. The Hornet stopped working about 1995 but I keep it for nostalgia's sake. Now there are all the virtual recreations, who wants to lug a heavy keyboard around for gigs and it didn't do anything the others didn't...

  • @darcyperkins Also Dave Greenaway from The Stranglers and Dave Stewart of Eurythmics had Wasps as their first synths!

  • Ah this took me back to 1981 when my first job out of Oxford University was as demonstrator/education salesman for the Electronic Dream Plant (Oxford) Ltd who made this fine synth.

  • mod?? 1:15

  • Id love that thing

  • What a great knob you have....
