ANOTHER WORLD: Frankie Dies (Stalker Storyline) Pt. 2

The firing of AW alumni Alice Barrett was a sad and devastating blow to the fans of "Another World" for it set in motion the decision to kill off the character that she had portrayed for seven years: the beloved Frankie Frame.

Though brilliantly performed, the storyline is infamous for the controversy it sparked among the show's fans and the soap's executives as well as for the grisly violent way in which the character was murdered. The show never recovered from the loss of Frankie who, in many ways, represented the heart of the show.

In Part 2, Frankie drives Josie to her wedding shower where she gives her a heart to heart about payoffs to a job being not as important as life's other big payoffs. This conversation leaves Josie ever so grateful and is an obvious plot device designed to have Frankie's death impact Josie later on.

Next, at Josie's bridal shower, while everyone is being festive, Frankie feels a certain chill unlike she's ever felt before, letting her know something is wrong. The stalker who will eventually kill her is outside watching. Vicky, noticing Frankie's unease, gives to her her necklace "for luck". Unbeknownst to Vicky, she has just sealed Frankie's fate since this is the very thing that the stalker wants and he is willing to kill for it since it implicates him in the other murders. Vicky had been stalked without even realizing it and now the stalker has set his eyes on Frankie.

Frankie's sixth sense goes into overdrive. Her unease becomes more ominous but she continues to dismiss it since it's unlike any bad feeling she's felt before. This is understandable since this was a sign from the universe that her death was coming and she had probably never experienced a "sign" quite like it. Josie leaves midway into the party to pursue a lead in the stalker case. Everyone says their good-byes, never knowing that this is the last time everyone will see Frankie alive. Her good-bye with Sharlene is particularly poignant.

Before leaving to pick up her daughter Charlie at the sitters, Frankie again feels that something is definitely wrong while entering her car, not knowing that it has been tampered with by the stalker who is close by and ready to attack.

This whole storyline was just a tired retread of the brilliant Sin Stalker story from the 80s anyway

To be honest, despite the polls. I would have preferred Paulina biting the dust instead. Never cared for her.

@travis082185 Yes indeed and I have already done DVD transfers of some of her appearances. Given that my tapes are not marked, it's hit or miss as to what I find on them but I do have those appearances transferred already, including Alice as "Angel Frankie" when she gives her blessing to Cass to be with Lila (a very moving scene indeed). I will eventually post these episodes once we get to that point in the story, but it'll be a while admittedly since we're still in 1993 & not in 1999.

OK...can you or someone tell me what the significance of the necklace Vicki had was?? Was the stalker intending on killing her, but made Frankie the target simply b/c she was wearing it?? It's been so long, I don't remember. Thanks in advance!
