  • auto pilot disengage sound was funny..

  • It looks so slow that even a car can be faster than you. What makes it look so slow? It is not flying, but walking in the sky :)

  • @bextorjazz Correct. At an average 150-mph final approach speed, 8 miles is gobbled up in 3 minutes, 12 seconds.

  • Same runway I arrived on via Alaska 727 in July, '83: off on a tarmac to the right was a 4-engined fish-hauler which shed a prop in-flight (which gashed the fuselage) and made a nosegear-up emergency landing a month or two before, which I watched land on TV. Spent the next few days flying around Alaska and helping patch up a 206 to fly back to Seattle. What a summer!

  • "EXCELENTE " .

  • 25 kts landing ? :-)

  • @aguler1 another example, the runway is almost 2 miles long... you can see the airplane only takes a few seconds to cross it... do you think a car would cross it in the same time?

  • @aguler1 You see, it has to do with the altitude... there is nothing close to the aircraft in the air that represents a "reference point" for your eyes also there is no movement produced by friction... just have a look, the airplane is at least 8 miles away from the runway... it only takes a few minutes to reach the runway, now think: does a car can run the same distance in that time?...

  • Isn't it 7L and 7R..Do you guys tune the BRUCK NDB in real life?

  • @hyrrokinfamily Yes.

  • @dmimcg First of all you don't know what you are talking about, second of all that is not a VASI it is a PAPI and there is a huge difference, and third of all you don't land 2 red 2 white in a 747 unless there is a second PAPI further back because you see the colors relative to your position looking out from the cockpit. Since a 747 cockpit sits higher than a 737 for example, the PAPI would make you fly a lower glide path to maintain 2 white and 2 red which would cause the 747 to be lower...
