A small town outside Philadelphia has an annual festival where clay birds made by local artists are fired in a pit beneath a wooden phoenix set on fire to warm up the frosty, full moon December night. Local crowds eagerly participate to light the bird and see the fireworks.

  • I drove by that site about 2 hours before the thing started thinking that we should have stuck around for the roast. Boy, has Phoenixville turned itself around! Now if they could only get that bridge finished...

  • I was standing under one of the platforms with the fire-eaters.

  • We were over in the parking lot at one of the burning barrels..stayed more then cozy ;-)

  • I was up on the hill behind the bird and DAMN!!!! it was cold. I got home and my fingers were bright red.

  • Absolutely awesome time was had by all..still waiting for my feet to thaw out...hehe
