My late wife Toyoko Yoshida, born in 1933 in Nagoya, is shown here in a clip from a film made by her mother in 1937. It shows the 4-year old Toyoko and her parents (mother in kimono, father slightly balding, in grey suit) on a holiday in the highlands of Nagano Prefecture, where they stayed at the Akakura Kanko Hotel and went boating on Lake Nojiri. This is the only part that could be saved by my friend Michael Rogge from the lengthy family film. The rest had deteriorated beyond rescue.
