If you are able to do more than 12 repetition per set for a muscle exercise, then you are using very light weights and u need to increase the weight. If you do less than 8 repetitions per set, the the weight is too heavy, and u need to decrease.

  • @rabou333 Thats right! Ppl who are on dozens of reps per day think that these will build muscle. It'll damage your joints! If you're 20 yrs old now and do 100 push ups a day for 5 years, by 30 you will 100% have shoulder problems.

Do 8-10 (x2 sets) bench presses at your maximum weight (You need spotting and you fail on rep no.10) for ONCE a week and you'll have a BEEFIN chest in 6 months if you're eating right. The same applies for all muscles except Calves, Biceps & Triceps.

  • I Need help here. Please help!! =-] I havent workd out for over a good year now.. and I have just started wieght lifting only working out my arms and shoulders for the last 15 days stright. • makes perfect sense + write down ur time between sets.by reducing that time u can grow bigger but not stronger and be have more endurance (of course theres a limit to it but if ur the guy takin 10 min between sets and ur still small but strong u know the answer ;) )

  • @ak47ava yes your rite

  • @sanddocon

yes but we are focusing on building muscle.

  • please you can build strength n stamina with out building size

  • @rabou333 lol please if one is training to gain stamina u need to do 25 repetitions

so it is up to your training goals

  • @flinagin YEAH - You tell him bro!

  • @The247FitnessChannel How about you stop giving anecdotal based, bro-science advice yeah? Of course reps & intensity etc. are up to the individual, we are.. individual after all.. so of course it varies depending on a multitude of factors, but the figure I gave (5-8 reps/~85% 1RM) is for an AVERAGE male (was that not obvious?..). 8-12 reps, on ave. will NOT result in optimal muscle growth. That's a made up figure without any science to back it up. Studies/science>big guys/friends/most trainers.
