This will surely be very special for fans of the popular old 'Circle 8 Ranch' show from bygone TV station, CKNX-TV, Wingham, Ontario, Canada. Ernie King is not only the beloved former host of 'Circle 8', but remains one of the most humble, warm and remarkable human beings I have ever met.

He is still very involved in the Barn Dance Museum in Wingham and is a gifted craftsman of a wide array of musical instruments. He is also among the most talented entertainers ever, as shown here in this Circle 8 episode from the mid-seventies.

  • Oh my! When I was a little girl, the CKNX Ranch Party was a staple in our home! It was usually very fuzzy and we had to adjust the rabbit ears but even if we couldn't see the picture, we would watch! Wonder whatever happened to Sharon Strong? Thanks so much for posting this!! Brings back some great memories of my mom and I watching!

  • @cawo77 I have also wondered what became of her. If someone knows, please pass it along. I remember having the worst crush on Sharon, at about age three, or four. When she sang and smiled to the camera, I thought she was singing directly to me. I was in a second-hand store a couple of years ago and picked up a vinyl LP Sharon recorded in the early 1960s.

  • Ernie also did a bang-up job fixing my guitar.

  • @laraby78 He not only creates all that great music, but he can creates instruments the music is created on! That's talent!

  • Name is Stan C. worked as sr. audio on Circle 8 and Good Time Country.

Many many great memories of the people I worked with- Ernie, Ranch Boys, Tommy Hunter, Al Cherney, and Shania Twain

tragic what happened to cknx tv

    cheers

  • @Vytautaus This is a distinct pleasure, Stan. I grew up and learned a lot about life from these shows that you were intimately involved in. Thank you for being part of the phenomenon called CKNX-TV and for helping bring me an important part of my childhood.

  • My sister used to have a record of hers. She had on a blue dress on the front cover. The only song I remember on it was "Put Your Arms Around Me Honey". LOL Good memories of a simpler time.
