  • @kbad73 yup. be hard as hell to get off the ground with out them!

  • Reeve2222, me too it seems weird to see the video!

  • I was standing in that crowd, it feels different watching it now.

  • B-1s always...ALWAYS take off with AB. And I repeat, ALWAYS! They are using AB in this video.

  • Fascinating aircraft, isn't it? We live near a B-1 base and it's surprising how very quiet that huge machine can be when necessary ;) They take off all the time here w/o AB's (like in the vid) and the difference is massive.

  • this thing must cost a fortune to fly

  • never flown it, just sayin it will take off without them. Every plane with ab's can take off without them if conditions are right.

  • With a comment like that, you must know a lot about B-1s. Everytime I have taken off in a B-1, the burners were lite, and it wasn't for an airshow. -- I guess things have changed since 1993

  • yes it will take-off without the ab's. Just takes a bit more runway and 2nd segment numbers change, etc.

    anything else you wanna know?

  • It flys just fine without burners but it can't get in the air without them.
