  • For those who doubt they were the best live band in the world, watch any live video from 1969-70.

  • By this time Roger had perfected the Rock-star-as-sex-god image onstage. He had to in order to perform Tommy.

  • Of course they could not replicate their records on stage. They didn't even try...instead they proceeded to invent the hard rock concert in the late 60s.

  • @angstwon

    Why?

  • @ngiyaxolisa In my school you were a minority if you liked anything that wasn't auto-tuned crap.

I also honestly didn't get into the Who until a couple months ago (Amazon had all their albums available digitally for $5.00 each) and so I thought I'd take advantage of that. I've always been a Beatles fan - but never got too much into the Rolling Stones. Definitely wish I'd checked them out sooner! And yeah - they rocked live (based on DVDs I've seen, and of course this video).

  • @dudestr5552 Incidently, some Who trivia you may not know. The Who payed people on the street to come to their very early gigs and these people were called "the 100 faces". They were the First Who fans.

  • @dudestr5552 Nice to see you're keeping the "100 faces" spirit alive, Dude. In my school, you were in a small minority as a Who fan. Everybody loved the Stones and of course the Beatles. Most thought them thought The Who sucked and couldn't perform any of their music live-- that they depended on multi-tracking and electronics to get their sound. They sure were wrong, weren't they? Saw 'em first in '68, twice in '69, and once in '70. The Who live were gods in those days!

  • @ngiyaxolisa I was born a couple decades too late (only 23 here), and didn't have the joy of seeing it live. However, thanks to the magic of technology, I can experience it this way... and thanks to the memories of people such as yourself, I can learn of their experiences. Wish I could have seen it, and keep rocking!

  • Who else but Townshend could dream up a song with the entire guitar part in the "chorus" being just one note (alright, for you musicians a single chord, but its pretty much a single note). Who else but The Who could make it work as a song?
