Nope, no sandwich/pancake bodies on the Historic Reissues, but I did have a '74 Standard that had the pancake body. I sold that guitar a few weeks ago.

yeah, my dads lp deluxe (1970) gets the same tone...does yours have a sandwiched body?

hey can you pass some wisdom on. I have a black knob 64 no verb. I was wondering what rectifier you have in yours. the one i have in it now has no markings. I am thinking it to be 5AR4.I bought this off of craigslist out in CO. the guy said it was serviced by "Lord Valve" What should be in it?

Mine has a RCA 5Y3GT. Does yours have white knobs? '64 transition year for the Princeton.
Mine's a 6G2. I think the later 64's have a different circuit.

Thanks...this is the best demo I have heard of the R4. I have been considering one and don't find to many to try myself. I currently play an R8 through an old Fender Champ (among others)and a Princeton Reverb is also in my future plans. This video was a perfect demo for me. Very nice playing and wonderful tone by the way. Have you had the chance to compare the R4 to the Les Paul Special (single or double cutaway) Historics?

Thanks for the kind words! Sounds like you and I have pretty similiar tastes in gear.
I have not compared the R4 to a single or dbl cut LP Special, but I'm very interested in getting one in the future. I would venture to say they would be more airy, open, and less compressed tonewise. I say this by comparing the R4 to my CS SG Special.
Thanks and take care!
