In 1981, Ingram provided the vocals to "Just Once" and "One Hundred Ways" on Quincy Jones's "The Dude" album. The song peaked at #17 on the US Singles chart that year. He won a Grammy award for best R&B vocal performance for his work on this album.Later in 1983Ingram's debut album, It's Your Night was released featuring this song.

His EP sold 1,000 copies here within six months - a feat by local industry standards. Currently, Hazrul is a member of Vocaluptuous, which is well-known for its R&B, Pop, A'cappella and Jazz performances.
