The clearing at Compiegne, France

At 5am (5am GMT) on Monday 11th November 1918, the Armistice was agreed and Germany surrendered unconditionally to the Allies. The Armistice came into effect at 11AM that morning (11am GMT).

The Great War, now called World War One, was over.
