Sure there's semi-decent software on XP, at least by Microsoft's admittedly low standards. When comparing to Mac OS X based software however, the answer is a resounding NO! Your memory is NOT playing tricks on you :-)

Parallels... too bad it can't use OS X Midi synthesizer this way, which doesn't sound like tortured squirrels.
I just don't get it... didn't they have at least semi-decent software midi on XP? Is my memory playing that much on a prank on me?
