Move-Birth of the Cool

Birth of the Cool is an album which collects twelve songs recorded by the Miles Davis nonet for Capitol Records in 1949 and 1950.

Featuring unusual instrumentation and several notable musicians, the music featured innovative arrangements strongly inspired by classical music, and mark a major development in post-bebop jazz. As the title implies, these recordings are considered seminal in the history of cool jazz.

I don't get why many jazz-heads here are so angry and indignant because young folks are discovering this music through a video game. It seems like blatant musical elitism. We should WELCOME new jazz listeners to the fold, not turn them away! Our music is supposed to be inclusionary, not a mere clique of self-important snobs reveling in our arcane knowledge and appreciation for great art. Welcome, all you young people, and don't mind the sourpusses in our midst, for they are but a minority!
