President Corey welcomed incoming students and faculty at a special ceremony dedicating the Spring semester
Nearly 2,000 students, faculty and staff gathered in Biola's Chase Gymnasium on Monday, February 1 to kick off the first day of classes at the Spring 2010 Convocation Ceremony.

President Corey charged and commissioned new students and faculty to academic excellence and to uphold Biola's mission and vision. Returning faculty lined the first rows of bleachers, lending their support.

President Corey gave the official Convocation address entitled, "A Convocation of Biblical Proportions." Teaching from Nehemiah 8, Corey challenged the Biola community to lead lives of repentance, rejoicing and service to those who have nothing. During his message, President Corey took a live phone call from Dr. Michael Anthony [Vice Provost of Academic Development and Effectiveness] who is ministering and leading relief work in Haiti following the devastating January 12 earthquake. Dr. Anthony was able to relay his experiences in Haiti, encouraging the Biola community to pray and consider how they might meet the needs of a hurting world. The Biola community left challenged and inspired as the Spring semester begins.
